ஸ்ரீ அரவிந்தாசிரமம் என்பது எது?” என்ற ஒரு கேள்விக்கு விளக்கம் அளிக்கும் வகையில் ஒரு முறை ஸ்ரீ அரவிந்தர் கூறினார்;

“ஆசிரமம் என்பது நான் இருக்கும் இந்தக் கட்டிடத்தை மட்டும் அன்று;

Savitri - 214

Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
Daily Savitri - 214

The world was a conception and a birth
Of Spirit in Matter into living forms,
And Nature bore the Immortal in her womb,
That she might climb through him to eternal life.
His being lay down in bright immobile peace
And bathed in wells of pure spiritual light;
It wandered in wide fields of wisdom-self
Lit by the rays of an everlasting sun.

- Savitri by Sri Aurobindo, Book 1, Canto III - The Yoga of the King: The Yoga of the Soul's Release, Page 43

How to read Savitri?

It does not matter if you do not understand it ? Savitri, read it always. You will see that every time you read it, something new will be revealed to you. Each time you will get a new glimpse, each time a new experience; things which were not there, things you did not understand arise and suddenly become clear. Always an unexpected vision comes up through the words and lines. Every time you try to read and understand, you will see that something is added, something which was hidden behind is revealed clearly and vividly. I tell you the very verses you have read once before, will appear to you in a different light each time you re-read them. This is what of happens invariably. Always your experience is enriched, it is a revelation at each step. But you must not read it as you read other books or newspapers. You must read with an empty head, a blank and vacant mind, without there being any other thought; you must concentrate much, remain empty, calm and open; then the words, rhythms, vibrations will penetrate directly to this white page, will put their stamp upon the brain, will explain themselves without your making any effort.

Daily Savitri - 213

The trudge of Time changed to a splendid march;
The divine Dwarf towered to unconquered worlds,
Earth grew too narrow for his victory.
Once only registering the heavy tread
Of a blind Power on human littleness,
Life now became a sure approach to God,
Existence a divine experiment
And cosmos the soul's opportunity.

Words of Sri Aurobindo from the Life Divine

Some Words of Sri Aurobindo from the Life Divine

The Human aspiration

The earliest preoccupation of man in his awakened thoughts and, as it seems, his inevitable and ultimate
preoccupation, — for it survives the longest periods of scepticism and returns after every banishment, — is also the highest which his thought can envisage. It manifests itself in the divination of Godhead, the impulse towards perfection, the search after pure Truth and unmixed Bliss, the sense of a secret immortality. The ancient dawns of human knowledge have left us their witness to this constant aspiration; today we see a humanity satiated but not satisfied by victorious analysis of the externalities of Nature preparing to return to its primeval longings. The earliest formula of Wisdom promises to be its last, — God, Light, Freedom, Immortality.

These persistent ideals of the race are at once the contradiction of its normal experience and the affirmation of higher and deeper experiences which are abnormal to humanity and only to be attained, in their organised entirety, by a revolutionary individual effort or an evolutionary general progression. To know, possess and be the divine being in an animal and egoistic consciousness, to convert our twilit or obscure physical mentality into the plenary supramental illumination, to build peace and a self-existent bliss where there is only a stress of transitory satisfactions besieged by physical pain and emotional suffering, to establish an infinite freedom in a world which presents itself as a group of mechanical necessities, to discover and realise the immortal life in a body subjected to death and constant mutation, — this is offered to us as the manifestation of God in Matter and the goal of Nature in her terrestrial evolution. .....................................

- Sri Aurobindo, Life Divine

A glory and a rapture and a charm,

The All-Blissful sat unknown within the heart;
Earth's pains were the ransom of its prisoned delight.
A glad communion tinged the passing hours;
The days were travellers on a destined road,
The nights companions of his musing spirit.
A heavenly impetus quickened all his breast;

India in the Twenty-first Century - Article by Sri Karmayogi from Mother's Service Society, Pondicherry

India in the Twenty-first Century
Article by Sri. Karmayogi Avarkal - Published in Consecration Magazine)

Where will India find herself in the March of Events at the end of this twenty-first century or in the middle of it or even a few decades later? I propose to discuss here what we as Indians can do to hasten that MARCH.

India - The Jagatguru

Sri Aurobindo has said that India is destined to become the Jagatguru. If there is any truth in it, do we see any symptoms of it now in Indian public life? If not, are there any ideas that confirm such a hope. The Divine Mother has said the bodies of Indians are filled with spiritual light. Surely it is promising, but it is a spiritual promise, which may be fulfilled in the distant future.
Of Sri Aurobindo's five promises, the first and the second have come true in His lifetime. He saw in 1910 India was free in the subtle plane. It came true in 37 years. He said Indian Freedom would lead to Asian freedom. About 45 nations thus became free. His next prophesy was World Union which is partially fulfilled in the European Union of which He spoke in 1916. India will become the Jagatguru was his fourth dream. Finally He said that the Supramental Being would be born. Even in 1956 The Mother told the world that the Supramental Force had descended on the earth. Since then events are marching faster. Thus we can hope this too will be fulfilled.

Can India rise from $ 400 per capita income to $ 30,000?

As long as Auroville is there, The Mother said, a third world war is not possible. Now it has become a reality. Sri Aurobindo said Pakistan would break up within twenty-five years. Bangladesh broke from Pakistan about that time. For India to become the Jagatguru, Sri Aurobindo said India must be free. She did become free in 1947 in two parcels. Again He said as long as the geographical unity is not restored that dream could not be realised. A poor nation's voice will not be heard. Today the whole world is following the USA because she is rich. India will be heard with respect if she is Prosperous and Indians realise her spiritual greatness. Can she rise from $ 400 per capita income to $ 30,000? Some people think she can. Arindam Choudhury has drawn up a plan to achieve it in A.D.2025. We can call it patriotism and good will even if we cannot believe it.

Power of Truth

Only 150 years ago English authors who had extensively traveled in India had testified to the utter truthfulness of our population. They also said they had not heard of any reported theft. Looking at the horizon of the Indian public affairs, one can believe that the Spiritual Dawn is close at hand if one believes in the truth that the brightest dawn is preceded by the darkest hour. I do fervently believe there are thousands of pure souls if not lakhs and crores who are capable of utter Truthfulness. Wherever they are they belong to a Sat Sang - a club of Men who live by Truth - whose leadership in the subtle plane will be gratefully acknowledged by the nation. What these Spiritual Elite do today India will make a reality tomorrow. Truth is a lofty laudable ideal variously understood, and conceived as an austere goal. Certainly it requires an austerity of mind to adhere to TRUTH.

What is meant by Spiritually Truth?

Spiritually Truth is the objective status of which Spirit is the subjective poise.
In life, where do we meet with Truth?
Honesty, purity, loyalty, integrity, honour, and courage are the life versions of Spiritual Truth.
These are the very aspects that are missing in Indian public life. Even in public life there are the select few who are paragons of virtue, whose life is an unsullied record of integrity. There are thousands and hundreds of thousands of men who struggle in their daily lives to choose the right. They want to be right and pure but they are unable to withstand social pressure, especially from their families that seek a life of modern comfort. Public life has come to connive at lax morals in every field, if not condone them. Hundreds and thousands of the solders of Truth offering to make the right choice in a difficult hour will slowly come to lead the public opinion in the subtle plane. What is accomplished in the subtle plane will in time become a reality in the physical, gross, material plane. Would you make that choice?

- Sri Karmayogi Avarkal

Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
Daily Savitri - 211

Seeking its own perfect form in souls and things.

Life kept no more a dull and meaningless shape.
In the struggle and upheaval of the world
He saw the labour of a godhead's birth.
A secret knowledge masked as Ignorance;
Fate covered with an unseen necessity
The game of chance of an omnipotent Will.

Savitri - 210

Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
Daily Savitri - 210

It cast away its grandiose lifeless front,
A mechanism no more or work of Chance,
But a living movement of the body of God.
A spirit hid in forces and in forms
Was the spectator of the mobile scene:
The beauty and the ceaseless miracle
Let in a glow of the Unmanifest:
The formless Everlasting moved in it

- Savitri by Sri Aurobindo, Book 1, Canto III - The Yoga of the King: The Yoga of the Soul's Release, Page 42

Savitri - 209

Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
Daily Savitri - 209

All the world's values changed heightening life's aim;
A wiser word, a larger thought came in
Than what the slow labour of human mind can bring,
A secret sense awoke that could perceive
A Presence and a Greatness everywhere.
The universe was not now this senseless whirl
Borne round inert on an immense machine;

Thoughts for the Day - அன்பர்களின் சிந்தனைக்கு.

Learning the first step or the final step requires equal effort, neither more nor less. Neither is easier or more difficult. What matters is your knowledge that you can learn the first step or the final step.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A strategy should arise from facts or factual experience, not from an aim or idea or idealism which is always a fad. Anything better than that is a facet of intuitive experience of the Spirit.

                           -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It does not matter what value you follow, as long as you follow it perfectly. Not the value, but its perfection.

        Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
        Daily Savitri - 208

Hoarded from touch and view and thought's desire,
Locked in blind antres of the ignorant flood,
Lest men should find them and be even as Gods.
A vision lightened on the viewless heights,
A wisdom illumined from the voiceless depths:
        A deeper interpretation greatened Truth,
        A grand reversal of the Night and Day;

        அன்னையின் அன்பர் என்ற தகுதியைப் பெறஅன்பர்களுக்குத் தேவையானவை மூன்று. அவை:

        (1) நம்பிக்கை,

        (2) பக்தி,

        (3) இடையறாத தெய்வச் சிந்தனை.

          ‘நாம் வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டதைத் தவறாமல் கொடுக்கும் ஆற்றலுடையது அன்னையின் அருள்’ என உறுதியாக நம்புவது நம்பிக்கை. எந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தாலும் அன்னையை மனத்தால் பணிந்து செய்வது பக்தி. மனத்தை எப்பொழுதும் அன்னையிடம் பதித்து வைத்திருப்பது இடையறாத தெய்வச் சிந்தனை.

        உதாரணமாக, ‘பெண்ணுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்ய வேண்டும்’ என்று நிச்சயித்து, அதைச் செயல் வடிவில் கொண்டுவருவதற்காக மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் செயல்கள் முதல் வகையைச் சேர்ந்தவை.

        இதுவன்றி, அன்றாட வாழ்க்கையில் உண்பது, உறங்குவது, எழுதுவது, பேசுவது, நடப்பது, உட்காருவது, குளிப்பது, விளையாடுவது போன்ற பல செயல்களிலும் நாம் ஈடுபடுகின்றோம். இவை இரண்டாவது வகையைச் சேர்ந்தவையாகும்.

        நம்பிக்கையும், பக்தியும் முதல் வகையைச் சேர்ந்த செயல்களில் வெளிப்பட வேண்டும். இடையறாத தெய்வச் சிந்தனை இரண்டாவது வகையான செயல்களில் கலந்து நிற்க வேண்டும்.

        ஒவ்வொரு கட்டத்திலும் தடைகளோ அல்லது சிக்கல்களோ ஏற்படலாம். ஏதாவது ஒரு கட்டத்தில் திருவருளின் துணையை நாடாமல் நாம் செயல்பட்டிருப்பதே அவை ஏற்படுவதற்குக் காரணமாகும்.

        இந்தக் காரணத்தை உணர்ந்தவுடன், ‘நான் செய்தது தவறு’ என்று மனப்பூர்வமாக ஒப்புக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். அவ்வாறு செய்தால், நடுவில் வந்த சிக்கலோ அல்லது இடையூறோ விலகிப்போகும்.

        அப்படிச் செய்யத் தவறிவிட்டால், மேற்கூறிய சிக்கல்களினால் மனம் குழம்பி, சந்தேகம் எழுந்து, நம்பிக்கை உறுதி இழந்து அழிந்துபோகும் நிலை ஏற்படும்.

        அதற்கு மாறாக, மேற்கூறிய முறைப்படி சிக்கல்களை விலக்கிக் கொண்டால், சந்தேகமும் எழாது; நம்பிக்கையும் தொடர்ந்து உறுதிப்பட்டுவிடும்.

        உண்ணல், உறங்கல், உறங்கி விழித்தல், வீட்டை விட்டு வெளியேறிச் செல்லல், திரும்ப வீட்டுக்கு வருதல்,
        குழந்தை, மனைவி, தாய், தந்தை, சகோதர சகோதரியர், உறவினர், நண்பர் போன்றோரிடம் ஏதேனும் உதவியைப் பெறுதல்
        அல்லது உதவி செய்தல், நண்பர்களையோ அல்லது உறவினர்களையோ வரவேற்று உபசரித்தல், அல்லது வழி அனுப்பி வைத்தல்
        போன்றவை மிகவும் முக்கியமானவை.

        அச்செயல்களை எல்லாம் செய்யும் பொழுது மனம் அன்னையிடம் பதிந்தவண்ணம் இருக்கப் பழகிக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்.

        அதன் காரணமாக இடையறாத தெய்வச் சிந்தனையானது நம்மிடம் நிலைபெற்றுவிடும்.

        நம்பிக்கை, பக்தி, இடையறாத தெய்வச் சிந்தனை ஆகிய மூன்றையும் பெற்றவர், ‘அன்னையின் அன்பர்’ என்ற தகுதியைப் பெற்றவராகிறார்.

        இந்த மூன்றையும் அடைந்தவர்களுக்கு எந்த நாளும் இன்பமேயன்றித் துன்பமே இல்லை.

        Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
        Daily Savitri - 207

Waiting the advent of a larger ray
And rescue of the lost herds of the Sun.
In a splendid extravagance of the waste of God
Dropped carelessly in creation's spendthrift work,
Left in the chantiers of the bottomless world
And stolen by the robbers of the Deep,
The golden shekels of the Eternal lie,

        - Savitri by Sri Aurobindo, Book 1, Canto III - The Yoga of the King: The Yoga of the Soul's Release, Page 42

        Sri Aurobindo's Savitri
        Daily Savitri - 206

Lifted, it showed the riches of the Cave
Where, by the miser traffickers of sense
Unused, guarded beneath Night's dragon paws,
In folds of velvet darkness draped they sleep
Whose priceless value could have saved the world.
A darkness carrying morning in its breast
Looked for the eternal wide returning gleam,

And through great shoreless, voiceless, starless breadths
Bore earthward fragments of revealing thought
Hewn from the silence of the Ineffable.
A Voice in the heart uttered the unspoken Name,
A dream of seeking Thought wandering through Space
Entered the invisible and forbidden house:
The treasure was found of a supernal Day.
        In the deep subconscient glowed her jewel-lamp;

        அன்பர்களின் சிந்தனைக்கு.........

        அன்பர்களின் சிந்தனைக்கு.........

        • Censor of thought is expectation in energy. Pure urge lies beyond.
        • விமர்சனம், எதிர்பார்ப்பு, வெட்கம் ஆகியவை சமர்ப்பணத்திற்கு தடைகளாகும்.
        ------------------------
        • Cynicism is due to lack of energy. It can create a vicious circle of lower energy and greater cynicism.
        • தெம்பில்லாதவன் சிடுமூஞ்சி ஆகிறான். அதுவே தெம்பை அழித்து அக்குணத்தை வலியுறுத்தும்.

        • He who has created a powerful organisation by advising everyone is one who is capable of founding an empire when he stops that advice.
        • உலகத்திற்கு தலைவனாக வேண்டியவன் தான் செய்ய வேண்டியதைப் பிறருக்குச் சொல்லி ஊருக்குத் தலைவனாகிறான்.

Made there her study of divining thought
        And sanctuary of prophetic speech
And sat upon the tripod seat of mind:
All was made wide above, all lit below.
In darkness' core she dug out wells of light,
On the undiscovered depths imposed a form,
Lent a vibrant cry to the unuttered vasts,
